Introducing Tech In Her Words: A Spotlight Series To Inspire and Embolden Young Women

By Marlene Spensley

In November, I was massively honored and thankful to have received a TechWomen100 Award from WeAreTechWomen, an organization dedicated to accelerating career development in the tech industry.

As an avid advocate for women in technology, a member of the Women of Hitachi committee, and an active mentor, this award only further fueled my drive to do more to help coach and support women in tech.

Since receiving this recognition, I’ve set my sights on leveraging my new platform and connections to inspire more women and girls to consider a career in science and technology and to encourage them to be bold in their ambitions.

Today, I’m delighted to introduce Tech In Her Words – an interview series that spotlights the voices and perspectives of women in tech. I’m sitting down with other TechWomen100 Award recipients from all different organizations and all kinds of roles to showcase the diversity of career paths available for young girls.

Through this series, I hope to inspire the next generation of female leaders. I aim to show the countless possibilities of a career in tech, diminish the intimidating conception of tech as a male-dominated industry of coding, and elevate voices of women in the industry.

In this series, you can expect honest, reflective dialogue as I engage with up-and-coming inspirational female tech talent. We’ll dive into everything from what it means to be recognized in the industry and what different career paths may look like, to challenges and hardships women in tech face, as well as advice and insights for young women who are starting out in their careers.

On International Women’s Day, I’ll be sharing my very first interview with a brilliant video producer, Amelia Hayward. Mark your calendars for March 8, 2021!

I look forward to sharing this journey with you all and continuing to move the dial for women in tech, together.
